Grow Up Microgreens and Baby Salads

Grow up are a small urban farm that use the methods of Aquaculture and Vertical Farming (Aquaponics) to sustainably meet demand for salads, fish and microgreens in the city.

They are the first Aquaponics Urban farm in London, by being located in the city the usage of fuel is low and the inevitable risk of spoilage is reduced.

Aquaponics is a recirculating system that combines hydroponics (growing plants in water without soil) and aquaculture (fish farming) to create an efficient closed loop system;

So the fish live in the water essentially fertilising it with their waste, the water is then used to grow the plants with no soil as it contains all the nutrients they need, the plants purify the water and after they have grown it is reused in the fish tanks meaning there is no water waste.

Vertical Farming:

Vertical Farming is farming upwards, by using no soil they have no need to grow the plants on the ground so make the most of their space by using tall shelving and growing up!
